6 Ways to Wear a White Button-Up

- Ashby Vose
Roth's Clothing Stylist Ashby and Community Manager Lauren challenged each other to get the most out of a classic closet staple: the white button-up. The result? 6 uniquely styled outfits ranging from edgy to preppy. Get inspired by the ways they put together their looks so you too can see the versatility in a classic white button-up!

“For my California casual cool look, I wore my button-up open like a kimono. I layered it over a comfy workout tank and paired it with my distressed denim, sneakers, and a faux leather backpack. I tucked my tank into my jeans to show off my shape, while the sleek lines of the long shirt give this a modern silhouette. This is an easy weekend look that’s perfect for a day of sightseeing or errand running. ”

“How can you take a classic look and make it a little edgy? Rather than tuck my shirt into my pencil skirt, I opted to make it cropped and free my belly! Instead of a blazer, I layered with my olive utility-style jacket and slipped on my fave sneaks to make it comfortable. Chunky statement jewelry helped finish off the look.”

“White button-ups add instant polish to any outfit. I like thinking of white button-ups as the dressed-up version of a white T-shirt. I love this floral-printed pencil skirt because it’s yellow (my absolute favorite color) and it’s technically a skort. No chub rub, and I can bend over without worry! A polished skirt in a classic silhouette that includes a colorful print is perfectly preppy. The matching yellow slides and straw bag sweeten up this preppy look, making it ideal for a spring brunch outfit.”

“I love a crisp button-up but usually wear it with jeans or something a little funky. For this classic look, I rocked my shirt with a pinstripe blazer and added a little color by throwing on hot pink capris and a bold yellow bag. The contrasting colors brighten things up while the shirt and blazer keep things polished.”

“A white button-up is a classic because it’s timeless, making it a perfect addition to any retro outfit. A striped midi dress, kitten heels, a knotted headband, and retro shades seal the deal. I tied the shirt in a knot at my waist to play up that 1950s silhouette. The look gets turned up a notch with a bold red lip.”
